Detailed Itinerary
This new destination located in the city of Arequipa shows us that the beauty of Peru is undoubtedly infinite because this natural destination is the ideal place to escape from society and enter a space surrounded by flora and fauna. We will be able to see in our trip:
- Añashuayco Quarry: It is also called the ashlar quarry, we can find it atnorthwest of the city of Arequipa. Located in a ravine that has an extension of more than 18 kilometers from the foot of the Chachani volcano to one side of the Chili River. Its name of Sillar quarry was given precisely because this is the essential construction material used for many years for religious colonial buildings and mansions in Arequipa. This beautiful place originated millions of years ago, probably in the Middle Pliocene era. Thanks to the frequent activity of the large amounts of lava and volcanic gases that run through the area, it gave rise to this place, which is visited today by hundreds of tourists more frequently.
- Culebrillas Ravine: Its peculiar name is given by the serpentine shape of this ravine, which was a shelter for the old inhabitants who moved from the coast to the mountains carrying their products. Since we entered this magical ravine we are transported back in time, since the rock formations on the sides of the road make it seem narrower as we advance and resemble entering the center of the earth. We can also find the presence of apachetas that are rocks superimposed one on another in the form of respect for the mountain.
